People often ask many questions relating to newborn photography. Also, all things related to pregnancy and newborns. One of the main questions I am asked is how to style a newborn session?
So how to style a newborn session? Styling the newborn photography session comes down to a couple of things. My style as a photographer, plus my clients preferred choice of colours.
Firstly, let chat about my style as a photographer. In my studio you will find many gorgeous props. Props that I have sourced locally, but many from overseas.
You will notice I use a lot of curly woollen felts in my photography. This is because they are soft, gentle on baby skin and available in a variety of different colours. Plus they look so warm and snuggly.
The colours I use in my work are often dusty pinks and blues. Earthy tones such as browns and greens and a little bit of grey.
You will see that I often use similar colour tones together, or complimenting colours you can find using the colour wheel
I use colours and tones that will compliment your babies skin tone and their hair colour too. My styling is classic therefore it wont date and leave you wondering what you were thinking 21 years ago during your babies first photography session.
Once the colour tones have been selected and approved, I then add texture to compliment the styling.
Using flowers is a great way to add texture to your photos. I use a locally owned florist so that I am able to pick flowers up the same morning of the newborn session, meaning they are kept nice and fresh.
